While the developers of the Artificial Pancreas Treatment have been mimicking normal pancreatic stimulation of the liver for over 20 years, it is only recently that focus has been placed on the first job of insulin, the stimulation of the liver to produce enzymes necessary for proper metabolism.

It is believed that researchers have studied the chemical pathways associated with insulin and have somewhat ignored the physiological relationship between the liver and the pancreas, only recognizing the unusual stimulation provided by a nondiabetic human pancreas in 2002. It is this unusual stimulation of the liver that provides the metabolic benefit to patients being treated by the Artificial Pancreas Treatment.

Diabetes.Net has prepared a complete diabetes education system of over 700 slides covering all aspects of diabetes, physiology, treatment, medications, and related diabetes subjects. This educational system is provided to clinics which are delivering the Artificial Pancreas Treatment.
