SUMMARY - Cellular Activation Therapy

Diabetes is the scourge of modern man.  Counting the secondary costs, it is the most expensive medical problem today.  One in three born after 2001 will develop diabetes. It costs $135 Billion in the USA in just direct costs, with over 60% for hospitalization.  Cellular Activation Therapy, (CAT) is in fact a medical breakthrough, and the only current safe and effective way to stop the progression of diabetes.  Regardless of severity, CAT is effective and will help.

Correcting the Cause:  Elevated blood sugar is not the cause of diabetes, it is a symptom.  Cellular Activation Therapy directly corrects the core problem of diabetes, which is improper carbohydrate and lipid metabolism.  This lack of proper metabolism is the direct cause of the many complications of diabetes; kidney failure, blindness, amputations, heart disease, stroke, neuropathy, progressing wounds, fatigue, sexual dysfunction, diabetes dementia and depression.

The Treatment Described: CAT has been known by a number of names during its clinical trials and early development, such as PIVIT, Metabolic Treatment, Hepatic Treatment etc.   They are all the same treatment, developed and owned by CATC and Bionica Inc, its owners.  CAT achieves better metabolism by stimulating the liver to naturally produce the enzymes needed for proper carbohydrate and lipid metabolism.  CAT is delivered by the Bionica MicroDose pump, an FDA, and CE approved pump with special abilities and software. CAT using pulses of insulin and oral glycemic stimulation, provides the two (2) signals needed for the liver to perform its job of producing the enzymes that are deficient in diabetic people.  The improvement in body-wide resting metabolism is documented by standard metabolism measurement (sports) equipment.  In fact, every cell uses insulin, and CAT activates proper functioning at the cellular level, hence the name Cellular Activation Therapy. 

Both Types of Diabetes:  Since Cellular Activation Therapy addresses the core problem of diabetes, it is effective for both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.  It was first used in 1984 with Type 1 patients, where the progression of the disease was slowed and in some ways stopped in the most severely ill.  In 1992 studies of Type 2 patients began, and the same effectiveness has been proven for Type 2 diabetes.  After 100,000 treatments, there is no doubt that the therapy works on both Type 1 and Type 2 patients.

Not Holistic or Alternative Medicine:  CAT was developed and then tested in a number of university and centers of excellence including Harvard, UC Davis, University of Arizona, Scripps, and the Mayo Clinic, just to name a few (see publications).  CAT is main-stream medicine, and should not be confused with fringe or holistic medicine.  All of the clinical trials addressing outcomes used “gold standard” tests for assessing the patient’s diabetic conditions.  

Safe, Effective and Necessary:  Following years of clinical studies and proving the effectiveness of CAT, Medicare Administrative Law Judges and other judges have ruled that the treatment is no longer experimental, is not investigational, and is medically necessary for the patients treated.  A landmark lawsuit against CalPers achieved the same result.  Now reimbursement can be obtained from insurance and in certain ways from Medicare through the dispute resolution systems. 

Why Have We Not Heard More?  In chronic diseases, it takes many years of studies to show that a treatment is effective, and then stays effective instead of losing effect or causing harm.  Most new drugs take 16 to 20 years to obtain approval.  Cellular Activation Therapy has been in development for 18 years as to Type 1, and 13 years as to Type 2.  This is rather quick, but most people would think this is long because they do not understand the regulatory and reimbursement problems of a new treatment, even one this effective and important.  Development was also made longer because of the cost of setting up clinics, and the huge claims of wellness that are now properly made for CAT.

Treatment:  Currently, a patient must come to the clinic once a week for a 6 hour treatment.  This seems like a detractor, until the physical benefits are understood, and the need for people to avoid death is lived.  Patients do not mind coming to the clinic for this treatment due to quality of life they obtain, and the stopping of complications.

Dramatic Outcomes:  CAT is not a subtle treatment where marginal improvement is a victory. CAT is “sledgehammer” medicine for even the most ill.  In fact, the more ill the patient, the more dramatic the response.  Going from very ill to well, is particularly satisfying to practitioners.

The following enzyme pathways are achieved with CAT:

Enzymes induced by achieving an effective high insulin to glucagon ratio: Glucokinase; 6-phosphofructo 1-kinase; 6-phosphofructo 2-kinase; Citrate cleavage enzyme; Acetyl-coa carboxylase;  Hmg-coa reductase; Pyruvate kinase.

Enzymes repressed by a highly effective insulin to glucagon ratio: Glucose 6-phosphatase; Fructose 1,6-biaphosphatase; Phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase.

Enzymes activated by a highly effective insulin:glucagon ratio: 6- phosphofructo 2-kinase; Pyruvate kinase (l-isoenzyme); Pyruvate dehydrogenase complex; Acetyl - coa carboxylase; Glycerol phosphate; acyltransferase; Hmg - coa reductase.

Enzymes inactivated by a highly effective insulin: glucagon ratio: Glycogen phosphorylase; Fructose 2,6 biphosphatase.

These enzymes are largely deficient in both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetic people, their proper action and inactions are what are missing for proper resting metabolism, and they are restored by CAT.

 

Another Problem Slowing Roll-out of Clinics:  There are millions of diabetic people in USA who desperately need this therapy.  This requires many clinics and a large organizational push. But we must begin with very well run clinics which requires logistical, training and production excellence.  That is why MedEdCo provides ongoing treatment oversight.

Commercialization:  All necessary patents, equipment and protocols (intellectual properties) have been combined for the commercial roll-out.  Patents, patents pending, and the regulatory affairs are no longer hurdles.  All of the equipment needed is available to be easily scaled for the roll out.  All of the treatment manuals and protocols are written, and MedEdCo is ready to train and oversee compliance and excellence.

Converting Clinical Research Centers:  While only approximately 35 sites in the USA deliver the therapy, now that the treatment is no longer experimental, centers are converting to commercial operations, and several new 80+ chair clinics are expected to open in the near future. 

Results:  The results of all the prior work, is that this is one of, if not the most important medical project for this decade. All that is needed is proper funding to coalesce the many willing medical professionals who will also benefit from molding Cellular Activation Therapy into the major business of stopping the suffering of diabetes.
